2025 Graduate Student Micro-internship Program
The Graduate School is pleased to announce a paid micro-internship program for graduate students during the 2nd half of the Spring 2025 semester. We invite applications for 13 projects, described below, hosted by offices across the University. These internships are designed to enhance professional skills development and provide networking opportunities for Montclair graduate students. Projects will be conducted starting on or about April 1 and conclude on June 20, 2025.
Student Eligibility
- All currently matriculated graduate students in degree and certificate programs are eligible to apply, regardless of program level or full- vs. part-time status.
- Some projects give priority to students enrolled in particular degree programs. Please click on each link below for detailed project information.
- Students currently receiving financial support under the following mechanisms are NOT eligible for this program:
- Graduate and Doctoral Assistants
- Full-time, part-time, or temporary service employees of the University
Application Instructions
Please click on the links below for the detailed project description, specific activities to be conducted, project modality (in person, online, hybrid), total number of project hours, and the application form.
You will be prompted to enter your contact information and degree program. Where indicated, please upload one PDF file that contains the following components:
- A cover letter explaining your interest in this project, your qualifications and relevant experiences
- Your resume
- Professional references: Provide the names, titles, and contact information for 2 professional references (for example previous employers, supervisors, faculty members).
Each host unit will review applications and select their intern. Application portals are now open, and host units will begin reviewing applications immediately. You may apply for more than one project. However, no one will be hired for more than one project.
College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) Dean’s Office, Optimizing Space Utilization in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences:
This project will support an internal space study for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences to inform decisions on creating shared spaces and allocating resources effectively.
Department of Public Health: Marketing Public Health:
The critical role of public health careers in challenging times. The intern will assist with a marketing campaign that generates increased understanding of public health as a career.
Office of Community Engagement and Partnership: Preliminary Analysis of MSU Collaboratory Data:
The intern will assist with analyzing trends and impacts of Montclair’s community service projects using the Collaboratory database.
Information Technology, Developing Preliminary User-Friendly Training Materials for Workday Student System Implementation:
This project aims to create an initial, user-friendly training curriculum for the Workday Student System, which will go live in 2027.
Department of Kinesiology, Advertising Strategy for the Kinesiology Community Fitness Lab:
The intern will conduct market research and develop brand messaging to promote services offered in the fitness lab.
Department of Linguistics, Career-Ready Writing & Marketing: Promoting Linguistics Through Content & Outreach:
The intern will support the development of promotional materials and webpages for the Department of Linguistics to highlight career pathways in the field and strengthen alumni engagement.
Department of World Languages and Cultures, World Languages and Cultures Communications Micro-Internship:
The intern will contribute to the department’s social media, website, and listserv communications, and assist in promoting department events.
Department of Theatre and Dance, Organizing Guest Teachers for Fabulous Fun Fridays in the Dance Division:
The intern will collect input from students and work with the Head of the Dance Division to inform programming and promote Fabulous Fun Fridays.
Center for Academic Success and Tutoring, Enhancing the Mission of CAST: Rebranding Academic Support:
The intern will assist with campus research and marketing activities to guide rebranding and promotion of CAST services and events.
Department of Teaching and Learning, Replacing edTPA: Developing Action Research for Candidate Assessment:
The intern will assist with focus groups and data collection to examine a new culminating assessment for students pursuing P-12 teaching certification.
College of Humanities and Social Sciences Dean’s Office, Enhancing Community Engagement at the Montclair Literary Festival:
The intern will assist with project management, digital media creation, event planning, and communications for the Montclair Literary Festival.
College for Education and Engaged Learning (CEEL) Dean’s Office: CEEL Center Consortium Service Index:
The intern will assist with conducting interviews and analyzing data to develop a Service Index for the primary services, programs, and resources provided by Centers within CEEL.
